Positivily Postin' for the Weekend!

Hello again,

It has been a few days since my last post, which was sadly full of un-motivational thoughts and really just my long weekend talking (which is why I removed it).

Thankfully it's Friday again and this week wasn't so bad after all. As I am fighting off the sniffles I am eager to enter Mother's Day weekend with hopes of cherry sorting and drinking wine with my mommie.
Since it has been a few days since I last posted I have a few things to digress about and then I will make Monday's Post all about Mother's Day.

For now...the song of the day:
FIRST and foremost what got me through my incline run this morning, LCD Soundsystem's newest album, "This is Happening," track 3 "One Touch".
Those of you that know me are probably super tired of my obsessing about LCD. But to be honest I just love the way the music makes me feel. This song in particular was a surprisingly new favorite for me. Rumors had it that Mr. Murphy's new album was nothing in comparison to his previous works, after listening I beg to differ. And no it is not just because it is LCD and I love it. It's because to me the sign of a true artist/entertainer/creator is when he/she/they can keep creating time and time again, hitting the same sweet spot with their loyal fans yet still tapping new undiscovered places to bring the listener. In turn gaining more fans and appreciation with each album. Not repeating the exact same style, but instead playing with that style a bit but while maintaining enough of the "OG" creativity to hone in "who they are" and keep people like me swaying, jumping and fist pumping with my eyes closed. That sir is my definition of a true artist.
With that I am going to leave you with the link to the right for LCD Soundsystem's newest album, "This is Happening," track 3 "One Touch".

Next, "What's Up With That," for the day:
I could talk for hours about how much I loathe Lady Gaga (well I actually don't care to talk for hours about her...wait that sounded sooooo hipster :(). Anyways, for now I am going to address the Telephone Video. And NO I am not going to highlight it in my favorite color nor am I going to include a link to the "way too long" video. Memory serves me that someone told me the video is something like 10 minutes long. FIRST can I just say that Lady Gaga, you are not MJ. She cannot try to do the prime time viewing of music videos like MJ did. I remember sitting on my knees with my bother as a kid waiting for the new Michael Jackson Episode/Video to start. That was the time..."I remember the time..."
Not to mention the ridonkelous scenes in this ridiculous video. What's Up With That?! I think at one point she was a jail bird, then she was almost naked then she was making a sandwich with Mayo, then she got picked up by Beyonce in a lowrider truck that had "Pu**yWagon" painted on it. I could keep going on about the terrible diner/americana dance moves but I won't b/c it was at that point that I closed my web browser. What's Up With That?!
To poke at this video and bring a light-hearted and of course positive spin on things, a few friends posted this video earlier in the week on facebook and I thought I would share it here, so check it out under my links to the right. It's pretty funny.

And to tie off this post I'm going to leave you with the Positive Post for the day:
"Live In Whoville," Yes, Whoville as in the Grinch story. Why? Well even when the Grinch stole Christmas from the people of Whoville, they still carried on with life and didn't let the lack of presents and joy destroy them .... and eventually Christmas came back and they got to have their fun. So the moral of the story is to Live like you are in Whoville, on a bad day try not to take it out on others or when you feel defeated look on the up side that another bright and beautiful day lays ahead.
Live in Whoville this weekend people. Much love.

Positivily Postin' FRIDAY

Anyone else excited its Friday? I AM.

Speaking of positiveness...I had a positively wonderful evening last night. Here we go:

For starters I got to see one of my favorite girls EVER, Miss. Carrie Carothers...but now, Mrs. Carrie Cregor!!
Carrie just recently got married to her Jakeie Poo and they are now expecting a baby girl. It has been so great to see Carrie on the journey to motherhood. I remember when the adventure first started, concepts like staying in on a Friday night, being called mom or good lord BREAST Feeding!, were distanced and daunting ideas. But as I have had the pleasure of seeing Carrie throughout her pregnancy she has developed a way of embracing this life that she and her husband have created and has done so with the up most adoration, maturity and love.
Words can't describe how happy and excited I am for the JOY that this baby girl is going to bring to their lives.
Last night as Carrie and I dined on side salads and polenta at One Speed (excellent by the way) we caught up on work, boys and babies. I feel that just about every time I see Carrie I see her wearing the metaphoric "hat" of an amazing mother. As a single woman, watching one of her dear friends go through this experience my heart just about skips a beat.
So today I tribute my "Positive Post" to Carrie and Jake, for making the world better by bringing a lil babe into our crazy world. I cannot wait to meet her.
Now that its clear that I have a girl crush on Carrie I'm going to move on....

After dinner, I headed out for drinks with my roommate in crime, Lola, to Shady Lady to celebrate my new friend, Erica's birthday. With the perfect amount of jazz, whiskey, vermouth and swankiness in the air...we enjoyed whiskey.gingers with our new friends.
And now for the What's Up With That, moment of the evening:
After discovering that Erica is practically a neighbor of ours and talking about how we need to BBQ and make Round Corner outings together. We briefly described our house with the "Purple Door" and we found out that Erica's sister used to LIVE in our house...it gets more crazy, her sister lived in Lola's room. What's Up With That!? Sacramento is such a small world.
So Happy Birthday Erica, we better see you at our house soon neighbor! (Lil shout out to Foster Freeze, wish I could have seen more of you friend, we are due for a hang out soon!)

The third stop of the night was Sol Collective (see link to the right) some form of an art collective that often has entertainment. As we approached the doors and the $10 cover to see a live show of Chico Mann and Sister Crayon, we also eyed the make shift bar with sodas, water and arizona iced teas...and then we left and immediately headed for Tower Liquors to pick up our friend Mr. Jameson. Kinda terrible that we are both thinking the same thing. Priorities. I swear we are not boozehounds, we just wanted a cocktail. I think.
After the Liquor Store Sales Man of the Year got us to buy the bigger bottle, we headed back to Sol Collective and soon found out that they were serving beer and wine...Booze FAIL.
After gettin it to afro/electronic/hip hop with Chico Mann, a random stamp on my neck and then the mesmerising sounds of Sister Crayon we headed home for a late night snack and a DVRed episode of The Office. An end to a proper Thursday evening.
I encourage you check out the links to the right of Chico Mann and Sister Crayon (hailing from Sac).

What a night right? Well, I got a little of everything...the joys of pregnancy, catching up with a great friend, celebrated a birthday, met a new neighbor/friend, found a new spot for music/art, got haggled by a liquor store sales men, saw some new music and laughed my arse off at The Office.
I said GOOD DAY SIR!!

Love you all and happy stinkin blinkin Friday!

Positivily Postin' 4/29

Good Day!

Today for starters you can find a link to my song of day... One Eskimo "Kandi" ... happy and sweet tune that has an interesting and compelling way of building up throughout the song that really gets ya "into it".

Next some Positive Postin:

Today, one of my favorite people, joined me in Spin Class this morning. Let's just say that 5:15am came wayyyy to fast and getting up on time to actually make a class that early is pretty hard to do so close to the end of the week.
BUT, with my friendie joining me this morning I had all the more reason to jump out of bed, well rolled is more like it. ANYWAYS, the Spin Instructor, which for now on I will refer to as Spin Doctor ... it's just appropriate, she said the following phrase that I thought was post worthy:

"Who are you working for? You have to go work for somebody else later, right? Right now, WORK FOR YOURSELF."

Thanks Spin Doctor for that inspiring take on busting my ass, I really needed it.
For Today's, What's Up with That?, I have attached a link to the hilarious way too long SNL skit, so you can see where I got the saying from as well as get a lil chuckle.
But for real, today's What's Up with That? topic:
  • A friend of mine and her Girlfriend went to Future Fitness, a local gym where they live inquiring about starting a family gym membership. They were told that Family Memberships were for Man & Women. Whats up with that?
  • So I can see if the gym said no if there were no children...but one of these lovies does have children. So the family component is there. Whats up with that?
  • It just really grinds my beans, that people can really say and do the things that they do. Not to mention that THIS IS A GYM we're talking about ... I mean really Future Fitness? Really? REALLY?

That's it for, Whats Up With That?" today.

Everyone Enjoy your day, we are that much closer to Friday.

Peace out,

Polly

Positivily Postin'

Hi Everyone!

I have attempted blog writing before and failed. Mainly out of failed interest or just plain forgetting. I think now I actually have something to write about it. As a crazy, young and undecisive woman, I want to get some of the rhetoric that bounces around my head out in the open.

I am also on the verge of a new opportunity for work with which I would be blog writing quite frequently, soooo I thought all the better to start one now.

What can we expect to find on Positive Polly Posts?
  • Affirmations encouraging your own Positive Polly outlook
  • My goals and my story of achievement or failure - For the past 6 months I have taken on a new life challenge with my health and fitness in addition to attempting to enhance my career. I'll be sharing updates here and really looking for this to heighten my own need to be a Positive Polly
  • Videos and links of media to brighten your day - We email videos and link all day long between friends and coworkers and often actually go looking for funny web pages full of contradictions and embarrassments...so I'd to share what I find with whomever cares to visit.
  • What's Up With That? - Inspired by the SNL skit that is probably showcased too often and generally the skit is way too long, I'll posting about random facts or thoughts and proceed to ask, "whats up with that?"
  • The Color Teal - Expect it to be shown everywhere, its my signiture color...:P
  • LOTS of "..." elipseses...I like to use them...a lot...

For now I think that will do...hope to see you all around here soon!
